Sue graduated with a BA Hons Degree in French and Spanish and spent the early years of her career in TV Marketing. However, after marrying and having three children, Sue decided to pursue her passion of trying to help people, both with their physical and mental health. Sue obtained an Advanced Diploma with Distinction in Hypnotherapy and in Integrative Counselling, which she has practised ever since.  In the same year, she qualified as a Jazzercize & Zumba instructor, launching Amersham Zumba in 2011, which she teaches four times a week.

What we do best

Most people seek counselling for reasons such as emotional, psychological distress and  relationships concerns. It can help with difficult and distressing events life, such as bereavement, divorce, health issues or job concerns. Or a person may have more general underlying feelings of anxiety or dissatisfaction with life.

How does it all work ---------

Therapy is most effective when done regularly on a weekly basis, during hour long sessions. The past may be explored, depending on the issues, as well as feelings, emotions, relationships and patterns of behaviour.

    Bereavement

    Sadly, we will all suffer loss at some stage of our lives. Whether it is from a losing a job, a beloved pet, a distant relative or someone that we feel we could never live without.  How we cope with this loss depends on many factors. Sometimes, our world immediately feels like it is collapsing.  Other times, we carry on and seem to cope well until the smallest and seemingly most insignificant event leads us into deep despair. Understanding the bereavement process and how to handle it is something that counselling can help you with. Every loss is different, as is everyone that experiences a loss. There is no right, wrong or easy way, but there is a healthy path your bereavement can follow that will eventually lead you to acceptance and a life afterwards. Talking to a counsellor about your memories, your sadness, your anger and your fears will help you order your thoughts, unload your emotions and rationalise your concerns in a safe and protective environment.

  • HYPNOTHERAPY

    Hypnotherapy -

    Many people have heard about and witnessed hypnosis, (perhaps the image of a swinging pendulum and a person being made to cluck like a chicken for everyone else’s entertainment springs to mind). Hypnosis is where a person is put into a trance-like state where the conscious mind is no longer in control and the subconscious is open to suggestion. It can be a dangerous thing in the wrong hands.

    Hypnotherapy, although still utilising the trance-like state, combines Hypnosis with Therapy to access and understand the subconscious mind. Putting an individual into a hypnotic state is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It can be done using a variety of methods, depending on what works for the individual, but essentially uses relaxation techniques and guided imagery. Once the individual is inwardly focused and the eyes are closed, the barrier between the conscious and subconscious mind is down. The subconscious is open and the therapy can begin. It is a very simple tool but can have dramatic effect; and positive and permanent changes can be made to the individual’s outlook on life, their thought processes, their behaviour and their emotional state.
